Dragons were announced as a ‘UK Business Hero’ for 2020 - after being recognised by the British Chambers of Commerce for our work during the Coronavirus pandemic with the Dragons Deliver scheme.
The British Chambers of Commerce launched a nationwide campaign to recognise the incredible work that UK businesses are doing, in the most challenging of years.
Dragons were nominated by the South Wales Chamber of Commerce for the Dragons Deliver scheme, launched during the pandemic in a bid to ensure the most vulnerable throughout Gwent were looked after during the crisis.
From the very start of the pandemic, Dragons offered support to the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board and NHS by hosting a testing centre at Rodney Parade.
The Dragons Deliver venture, which was spearheaded by our Community team, aimed to connect isolated communities through the delivery of essentials and prescriptions.
Dragons were announced as one of the winners and received a letter from HRH The Countess of Wessex thanking the region for its work.
Mark Jones, Managing Director at Dragons, said: “We are delighted to be recognised by the South Wales Chamber of Commerce and named a UK Business Hero for 2020.
“Playing our part in the local community is the at heart of what we’re about at the Dragons and in times of crisis people stick together to help their community.
“The Dragons Deliver project encapsulates that and we thank everyone who got involved to make a difference to those in need.”
Dragons Deliver is the chance for supporters to show why family and community values are so important to all of the team’s supporters.
The Dragons Deliver programme continues today - through the work of our dedicated Dragons Community staff. For more information contact our Community Manager Mike Sage on mike.sage@dragonsrugby.wales
