Heineken Cup Squad Announced

Europe’s Premier rugby competition the Heineken Cup is now less than a month away and the Dragons first four fixtures have been confirmed.

Europe’s Premier rugby competition the Heineken Cup is now less than a month away and the Dragons first four fixtures have been confirmed.

On the opening weekend they face Ulster at Rodney Parade on Sunday 7th December kick-off 2.30pm. The following weekend they travel to Welford Road and face the Leicester Tigers on Sunday 14th December kick-off 3pm. In January Stade Francais visit the home of the Dragons on Sunday 11th January kick-off 2.30pm and the following weekend travel to France for the return fixture against Stade Francais on Sunday 18th January kick-off 3pm.

The Dragons have also announced their 34-man squad for the Heineken Cup. Percy Montgomery is named in the squad following the completion of his 6-month suspension and Newport full back Sione Tuipulotu who has made a big impression with the Dragons is also named. Props Gethin Robinson and Sven Cronk have been named as front row cover due to the Heineken rules stating that a minimum of six of the first thirty players nominated by the club must be capable of playing in the front row, in addition after the first thirty Players nominated, any further Players nominated (up to the maximum of thirty-four) must also be front row players.
