The WRU Rugby Development department in the Dragons region are please to confirm a new partnership between Johnsey Estates and the Regions Dewar Shield Representative sides at Under 15s. Along with each districts individual sponsors and supporters, Johnsey has joined ranks to support grassroots development with the Region and the districts of Newport, Rhymney Valley, Islwyn, Pontypool and Blaenau Gwent.
Player Development Officer Gareth Evans stated that “the contribution from Johnsey is gratefully appreciated, and will go some way to help enhance the provision on offer for this age group. The Dewar Shield is a massive year for these players as they not only compete within a National competition against similar sides from across the other Regions, but it’s the foundations for their transition into performance sport and the Regional Age Grades next year. We’d like to thank everyone from Johnsey Estates for their support and Janet Harris for assisting us in the agreement”.
The additional support will allow district teams and, more importantly, the players in the district a higher level of provision throughout the season.
