The Newport Gwent Dragons are introducing reusable branded cups at Rodney Parade. This initiative will tackle the environmental impact disposable cups have on the planet, and will also try to lower our carbon footprint. By using these new reusable cups the Dragons will be stopping tens of thousands of plastic disposable cups going into landfill.
We recognise that disposable cups have become one of the greatest pollutants in the world and realise that as plastic takes hundreds of years to biodegrade, we needed to look at alternative drinking cups. We have partnered up with Green-Goblet who supply the reusable cups, and are thrilled to be leading the way forward in environmental sustainability.
With their first drink, supporters will now pay a £1.00 deposit for their reusable cup. Every subsequent drink will be poured into a clean reusable cup. When the supporter has finished drinking, they can either keep the cup as a souvenir or return it to a cup refund point in exchange for their deposit.
The cups can be reused many times over and then at the end of their life they are recycled into other useful objects.
This conversion over to reusable cups will not only have the advantage of having a huge impact on our environmental sustainability but are also a sturdier cup to drink out of. This means less spillage and happier supporters.
