All proceeds from the match will be going to Lewis Evans and Ashley Smith’s Dragons Beneficiary 2016 and their chosen Charity Partners St David’s Hospice Care and Stay Strong for Ows.
The Newport Gwent Dragons have granted Ashley Smith & Lewis Evans a Testimonial game to celebrate 10 years of loyal service to the club that they have been apart of their entire careers. Both have supported since mini & junior days at NHSOB and were fortunate enough to have come through the academy system and go on to represent their home region for an accumulative amount of appearances of over 320 games of professional rugby together. Ashley Smith said “We are delighted we were able to arrange our Beneficiary Match against our biggest local rivals. We have had some fantastic battles with Cardiff Blues over the years and despite this being a pre-season match we know the rivalry on the pitch will be as fierce as ever.”
The match forms part of the Dragons pre-season preparations and will be the first chance to see the Men of Gwent led by Kingsley Jones in his restructured Head Coach role. New signings Pat Howard, Sam Hobbs, Sam Beard, Nick Macleod and Craig Mitchell are all expected to be available for selection.
Lewis Evans said “We have arranged a number of different events this year and wanted this Beneficiary Match to give us an opportunity to celebrate with all of our supporters together. This includes our pre-match Hog Roast in the We Fight Any Claim Family Zone. This event brings together legends from both sides to celebrate the rivalry the Dragons and Blues we have enjoyed over the years.”
Tickets for the match are available now priced at £10 for Adults, £5 for Dragons Season and General Members (discounted rate) and £5 for Concessions/Under 16’s.
The pre-match Hog Roast in the We Fight Any Claim Family Zone takes place from 5:30pm. This includes food, a Player Q & A and Live Music. Entry includes a match ticket and is £30 for Standard Entry or £25 for Dragons Members and Concessions. The Hog Roast can be bought as a package with a match ticket here.

The Dragons will host two further pre-season friendlies in August. There will be a development match against Ealing Trailfinders at the Centre for Sporting Excellence Ystrad Mynach on Saturday 20th August (KO 15:00) and a match against Exeter Chiefs at Rodney Parade on Friday 26th August (KO 19:30). These matches are included in Dragons Season Memberships.
