Jones names side to face ulster

Newport Gwent Dragons Head Coach Kingsley Jones has made five changes to his starting XV to face Ulster in their Guinness PRO12 clash tomorrow night at Rodney Parade.

Dragons Captain Lewis Evans is set to make his 200th appearance for the Region.

Carl Meyer returns at Full Back with Tom Prydie moving to wing. The two are joined by the returning Adam Hughes to make up the back three.

The centre partnership remains unchanged with Sam Beard named alongside Tyler Morgan.

Sam Beard, who along with the rest of the squad had a week off last week, commented: “It was a first proper break we’ve had since pre-season, and you could tell the boys were mentally tired. Everyone seems fresh now so hopefully it will be a good thing.”

Reflecting on his first season with the Dragons Sam continued: “I’ve really enjoyed it and everyone’s been welcoming. We all know a few results haven’t gone our way but that’s the way it is sometimes.

“We’ve been creating opportunities but not quite finishing them. We’ve been letting teams off the hook then they’ve scored points against us. We need to get points on the board and put pressure on teams.”

Angus O’Brien remains at fly-half and is joined by Charlie Davies who makes his return to the starting XV.

In the front row there is one change as Hooker Rhys Buckley returns to the starting XV. Prop forwards Sam Hobbs and Brok Harris remain unchanged.

Rhys Buckley, looking ahead to the challenge of facing 4th place Ulster, said “This is a massive challenge again, they are one of the top teams around in Europe.

“We know the last two performances aren’t where they should be, so we need to pay supporters back. Especially with it being our last game at Rodney Parade for the season we need to go out with a bang. It’s going to be tough but we’re going to go out and give it everything.”

There is a change in the second row as Nick Crosswell returns to take a place alongside Rynard Landman.

The back row remains unchanged as Ollie Griffiths and Nic Cudd line up alongside Captain Lewis Evans, who is making an incredible 200th appearance for the region.

Among the replacements there are returns to the squad for both Phil Price and Darran Harris.
