Jones looks forward to his opportunity to impress

The Men of Gwent travel to France to play at the Stade Chanban-Delmas on Saturday evening KO 20:00, and the 26-year-old can’t wait to take to the pitch. 

He said: "I've been waiting for a long time to have a game and it great to get back in. There's no bigger game, I thrive on going to tough places to play and Bordeaux is certainly one of those.

“I am just looking forward to it and enjoying the experience of being back in the team. I knew that my chance would come at some point and this is an opportunity for me.”

Recently the fly-half returned to play for his home Principality Premiership club Ebbw Vale and has excelled during his time back on his old stomping ground. “I love going back to Ebbw Vale, they are my home team and the people there are so friendly and passionate. It’s relaxed and I really enjoy playing there, so it's important I transfer that over and see what happens.”

He continued: "We will go out there, enjoy it and express ourselves. France is a place that we've got a bit of joy from and we don't feel the pressure, we like to be underdogs and the weight is off our shoulders.

"There is personal pride, we have been criticised a lot and every player wants to perform well and prove that they are good enough."

Jones isn’t the only player set to return to the Dragons side this week, as Welsh International hooker Elliot Dee is due to return following the concussion he sustained during the GUINNESS PRO14 clash against Ospreys on New Year’s Eve.

Dragons skills coach Barry Maddocks, commented: “It’s great that Elliot will come back in and his experience will help the boys in the front row.

“We are looking forward to having him back and it’s good news that he has passed the tests. His abrasive edge and skills will help the boys immensely and we are really happy that he will be involved.”
