Dixon, 23, enjoyed game time and gained valuable experience for Bedwas in the Principality Premiership before his career at Dragons took-off.
The centre will now lead Dragons out as they face the might of Russia at the Bridgefield.
And he is keen to impress on his return and push his first team recall chances with the Guinness PRO14 exploding back into life next weekend.
“There are a lot of boys in the line-up who are fighting for a place against Edinburgh next week - myself included,” he said.
“I started the season well and felt the best I had in ages. But a bit of a stinger and nerve damage in my neck against Zebre meant I had to take a bit of a backseat for a few weeks. But it’s all good now.
“Jarryd (Sage) has done really well and slotted in so I have got my work cut out to get back in that 12 jersey.
“Bedwas is actually one of my favourite pitches,” he added. “I had a good run of games there and Bedwas is a good club who looked after me when I was there. I will enjoy going back."
Dixon will add plenty of physical edge in midfield as he joins forces with Tom Hoppe and knows the challenge that lies ahead.
“Russia must be a good outfit to qualify for the World Cup. Lyn Jones has taken over and is a good coach, so we expect a tough game and a big physical challenge,” he said.
“We played Ensei recently in Europe and they were big, physical boys. If you don’t match them physically then you are in for a long night.
“We have been given licence to play some rugby so hopefully it is nice and dry and we can throw the ball around a bit.”
