The Dragons forwards coach has been impressed by the way Talbot-Davies has stepped up from the development ranks and kicked on his season – rewarded with his first start of the season in the recent Guinness PRO14 defeat at Ulster.
High Wycombe-born Talbot-Davies - who has a Welsh father and was discovered through the Exiles programme and moved into the Academy set-up at Dragons in 2016 - has also featured in six match day squads this season.
And Jones believes the Wales Under-20 ace is maturing with every opportunity he is given at Dragons.
“I’ve known Will since he was 16 or 17-years-old and he was always a very talented player," said Jones.
"You could always say he was a bit of a schoolboy type of player, in that he was elusive but a little loose.
“Will is a big man now and has put on some timber. He showed at Ulster, with breaking tackles and running hard that he is dangerous.
“There are still elements to his game he needs to improve, but it has been very pleasing to see him develop.”
Talbot-Davies, 21, made his regional debut off the bench in the Anglo-Welsh Cup clash at Leicester Tigers in the autumn of 2016.
However, he has had to bide his time for more senior involvement and has instead impressed in the Academy ranks and Under-23 set-up.
And Jones also believes his experience for Wales Sevens, including playing in the World Cup in San Francisco in July, has been of huge benefit.
“The Sevens experience was really good for him,” added Jones. “These players get to go away, experience different parts of the world and that is big in terms of growing up. I think Will benefitted from that.”
