Warren: We must prepare for Glasgow backlash

Centre Adam Warren is fully aware he will face a fired-up Glasgow Warriors side this weekend – but wants the Dragons to show they have learnt from the last away trip.

Dragons fly to Scotland to face Glasgow Warriors at the Scotstoun Stadium on Saturday evening (kick-off 7.35pm).

Warren knows the Warriors will be keen to make amends after a surprise defeat to Isuzu Southern Kings in South Africa last weekend.

However, he acknowledges the Dragons also have a point to prove after defeat to champions Leinster last time out on the road.

“Glasgow are a quality outfit and we didn’t expect that result for them either,” said Warren. “We know, at home, they will be fired up for it and we have got to be ready for that.

“We have done a lot of analysis on them, how the Kings attacked them, and we will look to go after them too.

“Leinster away, as much as the score line looked bad, we learnt the most from that game and improved because of it. Now we have to show that.”

Warren is likely to form a new-look midfield partnership with Jarryd Sage for the encounter – with centre Jack Dixon set to miss the game after being forced off against Zebre.

And the 27-year-old knows the pressure is on to perform with Dixon and Tyler Morgan both nearing returns.

“We have some depth in the centres and it has been quite a physical start to the season so there have been some injuries and niggles,” he said.

“I’m happy to be in the team and I’m looking to play my best because I know another opportunity might not come again for a while.

“Tyler is a tough competitor and we both push each other all the time. Unfortunately, Tyler is injured at the moment, but it gives me an opportunity to show what I can do.

“Playing 13 can be one of the difficult places to play defensively, especially off starter plays,” he added. “It can be a lonely place when they run all these moves with a million options.

“But that is something we have worked hard on the last few weeks. Leinster are a team that run a lot of them so we got some good learning from that game.”
