Greggains relishing tour experience

06/04/2019

Lennon Greggains has vowed to enjoy every moment on the tour to South Africa – and use it as a positive springboard for the Under-20s World Championship with Wales Under-20s this summer.

Dragons Academy ace Greggains has impressed in Guinness PRO14 action in recent games with Ulster and Ospreys.

The talented 20-year-old is determined to get more game time during the trip to South Africa and is named among the replacements for the league encounter with Isuzu Southern Kings on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 2pm).

And the Newport-born forward believes the experience – both on and off the field – can be a huge benefit before hopefully more action with Wales in Argentina this June.

“I’m really enjoying the tour,” said Greggains. “The weather has been great, the hotel is really nice and the training facilities we have got to use (at Nelson Mandela University) are really good.

“It’s nice to spend some time away with the team, which I haven’t done before, so I’m enjoying every moment.

“It’s different being away from home. Away from family and all my mates back home, but going away for two weeks gives me a good chance to get ready for the Junior World Championships when I will probably be away for a bit longer. It’s a different environment and it is a case of getting used to that.”

Greggains will be aiming to make an impact from the bench against Kings and knows the challenge that lies ahead.

“We know they are a very good counter-attacking team,” he said. “They are really good in loose play and the forwards are good up front too.

“We know it’s going to be tough and if we want to win we are going to need to be on our game. We need to do all we have in preparation to give us the best chance of winning.”
