Skills Coach Alan Kingsley believes the novelty of being in South Africa has already gone and Dragons are building nicely for the Guinness PRO14 clash with Isuzu Southern Kings on Sunday.
Dragons jetted into Port Elizabeth on Wednesday and stepped up preparations today (Thursday) with a gym session and rugby session at Nelson Mandela University.
And Kingsley believes the big match this weekend is now firmly coming into focus.
“The boys have really enjoyed it so far,” he said. “There were no delays with the travel, but it was obviously a bit longer than we are used to so it was good to get the boys into the sea yesterday for some recovery.
“The novelty of being in a different country has gone now and they are cracking on for a big week of preparation.
“We can all see the end of the season now, but we need the boys to dig in and try and get a few wins on the board so we can come back into next pre-season with a positive taste in our mouth.
“We have a lot of respect for the Kings,” he added. “We know how dangerous they are and they have a very good attacking game.
“If we kick loosely to them they will really punish us so we need to hold onto the ball, trust our phases and patterns and hopefully we will come out the right side of the result.”
