Howells ruled out with elbow injury

04/12/2019

Dafydd Howells is set for a spell on the sidelines after boss Dean Ryan revealed the wing had suffered a painful and serious elbow dislocation.

Howells, 24, suffered the injury at the start of the second half against Zebre in the Guinness PRO14 at Rodney Parade.

The Brecon-born wide man – who has scored five tries in 16 appearances for the region – was helped from the field and Ryan confirmed he was now set for time out.

Ryan said: “Daf has suffered a serious dislocation of the elbow.

"There is ligament damage and it was a very, very painful injury.

“It is disappointing because he was starting to put some pressure on playing more regularly. He will be out for a long time."

Dragons are already without long-term injury victims Jordan Williams and Josh Lewis in the back line.

However, Ryan has reported better news for wing Jared Rosser with the 21-year-old "slowly but surely" getting closer to a return after a leg injury.

Dragons are next in home action on Friday, December 13 when we welcome Worcester Warriors to Rodney Parade in the European Challenge Cup. Tickets are on sale NOW - click HERE to buy and take advantage of Early Bird rates.
