Boss Dean Ryan has admitted he will look to make changes for the Boxing Day clash with Cardiff Blues as he bids to keep his squad firing during a busy festive period.
Dragons claimed a dramatic 22-20 win over Scarlets at Rodney Parade – courtesy of a late drop goal from Sam Davies - to launch the Guinness PRO14 derby season in style.
The team now has a five-day turnaround before they head to the capital to face a Cardiff Blues team that also claimed derby success over Ospreys.
And Ryan will assess his options as Dragons face a different type of game on the 4G pitch at Cardiff Arms Park.
"It's a faster track and that's something that we've got to look at," said Ryan.
"We played on one in Worcester a few weeks back and the speed of playing the game is different for us.
"The five-day turnaround is going to be tough for both sides,” he added.
“We will be making changes and bringing in some fresh legs with energy."
One player who will not be considered for the capital is back row Ollie Griffiths with Ryan keen to give his star forward time to recover from a leg injury.
"He is a bit frustrated because he had put a decent shift in for us. It was important to get him in a Welsh shirt and back up some European games," said Ryan.
"We are okay for back rowers so now is a good time to back him off so that he is ready to go again in the New Year. Now is a time we are asking him to have a bit of a rest, because it's a long season."
