DRAGONS VISIT AWARD-WINNING PARTNERS IAC

A number of first team squad players recently visited award-winning Newport-based partner Industrial Automation and Control (IAC).

Brok Harris, Jarryd Sage, Lewis Evans and Tiaan Loots – who along with Ollie Griffiths are this season sponsored by IAC – made the trip to IAC’s offices based off Queensway Meadows.

The players were at IAC to gain a better understanding of many of the international projects currently delivered by the business and to start putting the foundations in place to further support IAC's award-winning apprentice scheme.

IAC won Business of the Year at the inaugural South Wales Argus Business Awards last year and also picked up the Training and Development Award for their apprenticeship scheme.

IAC’s Apprentice scheme is seen as the foundation of the business as they take on young people, train them for four years with a view to finding an opportunity for them in the business once they are qualified.

The scheme is aimed at young people aged 16+ who have a desire to work and build a career in the engineering sector. All qualifying apprentices receive EngTech status when they finish the scheme.

Players from Dragons will be supporting the scheme by going in as mentors to the apprentices, offering support with a series of discussions and presentations on personal development and skills like leadership, ambitions, dealing with pressure and social media.

Brad Hayward, Commercial Sales Executive at Dragons, said: “It was fantastic to take the players into IAC to discover more about the business and the award-winning apprenticeship scheme that we are looking to support.

“Our thanks go to Peter Lewis, Phil Kitson and Katherine Lewis for their time hosting the players, and equally for their continued support as shirt sponsors.”
