Dragons help Wales defeat Pumas

04/06/2019

Several young Dragons played a key role as Wales three times battled back to beat host nation Argentina 30-25 at the Racecourse Stadium in Rosario in the World U20 Championships.

Dewi Lake’s side stood tall against a passionate and physical home side, who had beaten Wales 39-15 in France 12 months ago, and tries by Harri Morgan and Ryan Conbeer joined forces with Cai Evans’ boot to win the day.

Ospreys outside half Evans followed up his match winning 16-point contribution in last year’s opening game win over Australia (26-21) with 20 points, from six penalties and a conversion.

Wales meet reigning champions France on Friday before ending their pool campaign against Fiji next week. Then it is on to the play-off section of the tournament.

Aneurin Owen, Lennon Greggains and Rio Dyer from Dragons all started the game while Will Griffiths, Tom Devine, Ed Scragg, Dafydd Buckland and Deon Smith were named among the replacements.
