Dragons launch Introbiz Business Club

08/03/2019

The local business community enjoyed an evening of networking and an insight into life at the Dragons as a new business club in Newport was launched at Rodney Parade on Thursday evening.

Head Coach Ceri Jones and senior stars Richard Hibbard, Leon Brown, Lewis Evans, Jason Tovey, Ollie Griffiths and Matthew Screech were guests at the event held with the support of leading business networking company Introbiz.

Over 80 local businesses attended the launch night – sponsored by Prodec Networks – and got the chance to discuss business opportunities and hear presentations.

S4C presenter and MC for the night, Owain Gwynedd, then led a question and answer session with the Dragons panel of guests to discuss life as a rugby player and plans away from the sport.

Richard Hibbard, hooker at Dragons, said: “It’s important to have something away from rugby to focus on and, because it can be a short career, it’s vital you always have options for the future.

“You always have to look beyond the game and Dan Owens, from the Welsh Rugby Players Association, works hard at Dragons to ensure players look at development courses and opportunities.

“It was great to come along and not only support the launch but also meet members of the business community and talk about business opportunities and future plans.”

Brad Hayward, Commercial Executive at Dragons, added: “The continued and highly valued commercial growth we’ve experienced at Dragons thus far has been based around an honest intent to drive sincere, transparent and mutually beneficial partnerships in our corporate community.  A central tenant of this vision is based around supporting our partners’ own ambitions for growth and development.

“As such we’d like to thank Paul, Tracey and the Introbiz team for their help delivering these formal networking opportunities for our valued partners, and helping us continue to engage with our local business communities.

“As we build on these commercial initiatives, we remain committed on delivering benefit back to our partners, and building a reputation for being a trusted and leading partner in Welsh rugby.

This, and future events, we hope will offer opportunity for our partners, players, and staff to continue to grow, and convey the sense of community that has always been central to the place rugby holds in the Welsh national psyche.”

Dragons are pleased to confirm that we will also be working closely with Introbiz to host a brand new Business Expo at Rodney Parade on Thursday, September 19 between 9am and 4pm.

The event will be filled with over 60 exhibitors from many industries, feature five keynote speakers and, with 1,000 businesses expected to attend, this is an incredible opportunity to showcase your business to a wider audience.
