Dragons young aces defeated with Under-20s

01/02/2020

Wales Under-20 were beaten 17-7 by Italy in Colwyn Bay on Friday evening as their 2020 Six Nations championship got off to a disappointing start.

Dragons centre Aneurin Owen, wing Ewan Rosser, scrum half Dafydd Buckland and lock Ben Carter all started the game in North Wales while hooker Will Griffiths is named among the replacements.

Sam Costelow crossed early on and added a kick for good measure, but remarkably that was as good as it got for his team.

Italy came back with a bang via a try from Matteo Drudi while Paolo Garbisi ended the game with 12 points via four penalties.

Welsh-born Italian scrum-half Stephen Varney was the man of the match following an impressive display which saw him control the game from the base.
