Backroom duo in Cycle for Bryan

18/05/2020

Two of Dragons backroom staff hit the road – on foot and by bike – this weekend for a gruelling challenge to raise money and awareness for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).

Ben Stirling, Head of Physiotherapy and Medicals Services, and Barry Maddocks, first team Backs Coach, completed epic efforts on Sunday all in the name of ‘Cycle for Bryan’.

In June 2014 Bryan Challenor was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. The toughest news for Bryan and all his family and friends was knowing there was no cure for the disease.

In 2015 friends and family cycled from John O’Groats to Land’s End and in 2016 his daughter, Catherine, ran the London Marathon.

Sadly, Bryan passed away in 2016 but the fundraising continues! Every year friends and family the Cycle for Bryan evet sees people come together to raise funds and awareness for MNDA and in memory of Bryan.

This year over 50 cyclists took part – via Zoom and on the road socially distanced – and Ben and Barry from Dragons also did their bit!

Barry cycled a 50km route in two hours and 16 minutes! Well done Baz!

Ben hit the road to run the 50km and completed the distance in an incredible four hours and 45 minutes! Incredible Stirlo!

The JustGiving page to donate to the cause and support 'Cycle for Bryan' is HERE

Congratulations to everyone who took part this year from everyone at the Dragons!
