Clocking up miles for Walk the Dragons Way

20/10/2020

The new ‘Walk the Dragons Way’ challenge – run by Dragons Community in partnership with Dad’s Can Cymru – is underway with participants already clocking up the miles.

Seven groups of three – including Dragons staff - are currently participating in the first event, in order to raise awareness around men’s mental health and the daily struggles fathers face.

Week one has already seen fantastic peer-to-peer support from those taking part and over 450 miles covered!

Dads Can Cymru – part of the successful Dads Can project and funded by the National Lottery – helps fathers and father figures overcome challenges such as low confidence, mental ill health, relationship breakdown, access to children and negative lifestyle choices.

Dragons have joined forces with the pioneering work of the project, that operates across Newport and Monmouthshire, to help build on the existing network of support so individuals in need can share, learn, explore and process emotional issues.

Gareth Sullivan, Inclusion Officer at Dragons Rugby, said: “It’s great to see the ‘Walk the Dragons Way’ underway with Dads Can Cymru and a huge number of miles covered in week one! Well done to all those who have taken part.”
