Loan Watch: Edwards Knights Return to Winning ways

28/04/2021

Dragons on-loan centre Connor Edwards helped the Doncaster Knights return to winning ways after last week’s defeat to Saracens, as they ran in seven tries to defeat Richmond 40-12 at the Athletic Ground in the Greene King IPA Championship.

While Arwel Robson, the most recent Dragon to go out on loan, made his debut for the Cornish Pirates off the bench but couldn’t prevent his new side from going down 20-18 to Ampthill at the Mennaye Field.

Edwards operated at inside centre for the clash and he and his team-mates showed no side effects from last weeks defeat as the Knights ensured all five points came back to Yorkshire with them with a commanding display against the Londoners.

The 23-year-old from Croesyceiliog impressed again with some impressive direct running and strong defence and has really been performing in midfield for his new side.

Edwards and Robson have both made their moves North and South respectively in a bid for game time joining the Doncaster Knights and the Cornish Pirates on season-long-loans from the Men of Gwent.

While Edwards has impressed in Yorkshire, fly half Robson will be hoping to have the same impact with the Pirates for the remainder of the Greene King IPA Championship.

After a very business like display from the Knights, they will now build into next Saturday’s tie with Bedford back on winning form.

While next up for Robson and the Pirates is a trip to Coventry where they will be hoping to return to winning ways after suffering a narrow defeat last weekend.
