Centre Warren Signs New Contract

21/05/2021

Centre Adam Warren has committed his future to Dragons after today becoming the latest player to re-sign with the Men of Gwent.

Warren has made 117 appearances and scored 16 tries since joining from the Scarlets in 2015.

The 30-year-old is the latest talented back to put pen to paper on a new deal, joining the likes of Jamie Roberts, Sam Davies, Jack Dixon, Ashton Hewitt, Aneurin Owen and Gonzalo Bertranou.

Dean Ryan, Director of Dragons Rugby, said: “Adam is a consistent performer who, with over a hundred appearances already, is heavily invested in the region and in helping us achieve success.

“He’s had a tough season because of an injury layoff so we’re all looking forward to seeing him return and play a key role for us once again.”

Born in Carmarthen and raised in Burry Port, Warren played his youth rugby for Llangennech and won international caps for Wales Under-20s and Wales Sevens after beginning his professional career at Scarlets, with his debut coming in 2011.

A strong debut season led to a senior national call up where he earnt his first Welsh cap against the Barbarians at the Principality Stadium in June 2012.

The summer of 2015 saw the hard running centre make the switch to Newport where he made his debut for the Men of Gwent against Connacht in the 2015/16 Guinness PRO12 season.

Warren has gone on to become a firm fan favourite at Rodney Parade with his performances over the years.

Warren said: “It’s been a frustrating season for me because of the injury, but it’s great to re-sign so I can now look towards next season and my return.

“We’ve shown as a squad in the last few months the brand of rugby that we are capable of producing and now it’s about building on that foundation.

“There is strong competition in the back line with the emergence of several players this season and being a part of that battle for a starting place is a challenge that does excite me.

“I’ve played over a century of games so bringing success here is a huge target for me and helping us achieve that in my seventh season as a Dragon is my goal.”
