Loan Watch: Robson Stars in Pirates Win

04/05/2021

On loan Dragons centre Connor Edwards and fly half Arwel Robson both started for the Doncaster Knights and Cornish Pirates in their weekend victories in round 8 of the Greene King IPA Championship.

The 24-year-old Robson starred in his first start for the Pirates as his man of the match performance helped them claim a 19-30 away victory over Coventry Rugby at the Butts Park Arena.

While Edwards’ Knights claimed a 27-19 victory over the Bedford Blues in a brilliant second half performance at Castle Park, although the powerful centre was taken off just before half time due to injury.

The 23-year-old from Croesyceiliog has been operating at inside centre for the Knights and has impressed with his direct running and strong defence to date, helping the Yorkshire side into second place in the Greene King IPA Championship.

While Robson, who made his debut off the bench in last week’s defeat, helped the Cornish side return to winning ways with an impressive all-round performance, helping the Pirates take all five points home from Coventry and move up to fourth in the table.

Edwards and Robson have both made their moves North and South respectively in a bid for game time joining the Doncaster Knights and the Cornish Pirates on season-long-loans from the Men of Gwent.

After an impressive second half display from the Knights, they will now face a week off before travelling to league rivals the Ealing Trailfinders on the 22nd of May hoping to make it back to back wins.

While next up for Robson and the Pirates is Hartpury at home, where they will be hoping to continue their winning ways after an impressive away victory of Coventry.
