Asset Lennon can be Dragons hit

17/08/2022

Lennon Greggains has been backed to increase the fierce competition in the back row this season and put his Injury frustration of recent times firmly behind him.

Greggains, 23, has been limited to just three senior appearances over the last two seasons after injury misfortune.

However, the former Wales Under-20s ace – who signed a new deal in May - enjoyed a strong run-in to help Newport RFC win the Premiership Cup before outings off the bench against Zebre and the Lions for Dragons.

Team-mate Harri Keddie has seen first-hand what Greggains has been through in recent campaigns and firmly believes the Newport-born forward can make a big impact this season.

He said: “Lennon is a really good player. I have watched him for Newport RFC and he has a great work rate, similar to (Ben) Fry in that he is an aggressive player.

“He also has a nice skill set and brings a different balance to what we have got in the back row here.

“He has shown his potential but has been unlucky with injuries so it will be good for him to have a season injury free, have a good pre-season and give it a real crack next year,” he added.

“He’s an asset and just needs some luck. You can do all the training, but the best way to learn is to play regularly.

“Lennon is someone who has not had that, but he has huge potential to bring something else to us.”
