Bertranou wants win for 'passionate' fans

21/05/2022

Scrum half Gonzalo Bertranou wants a winning finish to the season on home soil for the ‘passionate’ fans that make Rodney Parade such a special place for him.

Argentine ace Bertranou lines up against Emirates Lions this afternoon eager to record a win over the South African giants.

The 28-year-old – who has made 23 appearances for Dragons to date – acknowledges it has been a tough season in the United Rugby Championship.

However, he is now keen to reward a fanbase that has now wavered in its backing.

“Playing at Rodney Parade reminds me a little bit of Argentinean fans because they are really passionate,” said Berttanou, who this week signed a new deal to remain at Dragons.

“It is a small stadium, and it is like being in hell with the fire and flames. The only thing is that we must play better and get the wins.

“We want Rodney Parade to be a tough place to come play and teams to not want to come here. That is one of the changes that we must do.

“The most important thing is for us to give to the supporters a win this weekend,” he added. “We want them to have a happy feeling watching us, giving our best and winning a match.

“The supporters have always been there, with us and travelling and giving their best. We want to win to say thank you to the supporters.”
