Coach backs Griffiths to bounce back

08/09/2022

Head Coach Dai Flanagan has backed dynamic back row Ollie Griffiths to bounce back from the injury that will rule him out of the start of the new BKT United Rugby Championship season.

Griffiths was forced off in the first half of the pre-season game with Bristol Bears with Dean Ryan later revealing the all-action forward had picked up a shoulder injury.

Flanagan has now confirmed more positive news with no surgery required amid his own high praise for Griffiths.

And he has also confirmed fly Sam Davies is recovering after a knee injury against Wasps.

“There is no surgery required and that's a relief because you sometimes fear the worst for Ollie,” said head coach Dai Flanagan.

“It's a shame for him but he is the ultimate pro so if the medics put a time on it then he is usually quicker!

“He has massively impressed me in pre-season and trained every day up until that first game. I am sure he will bounce back quickly.

“Sam hyper-extended his knee but it's not too severe and he will be out for a couple of weeks,” he added.

“He hasn’t trained this week but there is no ligament damage or anything flashing out as a concern.”
