Morgan has been out of action for the last three league games, after injuring his hamstring ahead of the clash with Leinster.
However, Head Coach Bernard Jackman has revealed the Wales international has now returned to training and could force his way into selection plans for the weekend’s big clash at Rodney Parade.
“Tyler has come through training after his injury. He did the sessions in full and took part in contact. We will see how he pulls up tomorrow,” said Jackman.
“It will be a huge boost if he is back. In fairness, Adam Warren and Jarryd Sage did a really good job in Glasgow. But Tyler is a player we have a huge time of time for and he is really important to us.”
Jackman also revealed a number of the players who missed the trip to Scotland last weekend could return, although centre Jack Dixon remains a doubt after a stinger injury against Zebre.
“We’ve tried to keep a consistent selection for the first five rounds, but the Zebre game was very physical and the weather was bad. That meant there were a huge amount of collisions in that game,” he said.
“Players like Cory (Hill), Ross (Moriarty), Ollie (Griffiths) and Leon Brown didn’t travel to Glasgow. Most of that was because they were banged up. Provide they train well this week they will come back into our thinking.
“Jack (Dixon) is in the mix, but probably is less certain than others. We won’t take risks and his is a stinger injury and it’s hard to put a time on it. He’s 50/50.
“Hibbs (Richard Hibbard) has a knee issue, but not too serious. We are hopeful he will be available. Arwel (Robson) is nothing major but we won’t know until Friday about his availability.”
“We’re looking forward to the derby game and we have massive respect for them,” added Jackman.
“We’ve gone to two of the toughest places away from home, in Leinster and Glasgow, and there has been an improvement.
“We were more streetwise in the second game at Glasgow and we were disappointed we didn’t get anything out of it. Now we are looking at the derby game, focussing on ourselves and excited about what we can achieve.”
Dragons return to action at Rodney Parade this Saturday against Cardiff Blues (kick-off 5.15pm). Advance price tickets are available until midnight Friday.
