Wales defeated in Bronze Medal match

01/11/2019

Dragons duo Ross Moriarty and Elliot Dee both featured as Wales ended the Rugby World Cup in fourth position after a 40-17 defeat to New Zealand.

Warren Gatland's 12-year reign in charge of Wales ended in the bronze match in Tokyo, but his team produced a typically battling display.

Steve Hansen, by comparison, ensured he left the All Blacks on a winning note as his side clinched third place in Japan with a six-try display.

Wing Ben Smith scored two tries and Joe Moody, Beauden Barrett, Ryan Crotty and Richie Mo'unga also crossed for the All Blacks.

Former Dragons ace Hallam Amos and Josh Adams scored tries for Wales.

Moriarty started the match while Dee was a second half replacement. Regional team-mate Aaron Wainwright missed the game with a hamstring injury.
