Hibbard braves the shave for charity

28/04/2021

Dragons legendary hooker Richard Hibbard is braving a shave this Friday as he gets those famous golden locks shaved off all in support of the People’s Captain Foundation, promoting positive mental health.

The People’s Captain Foundation is the creation of Dragons prop Greg Bateman combining his love of craft beer and raising awareness around positive mental health.

Bateman, who joined Dragons from Leicester Tigers last summer, revealed how he has set a target of raising £1million for mental health initiatives after his own struggles with depression and anxiety.

The 31-year-old prop has got his front row partner Hibbard to take a big leap and shave his legendary locks off all for a great cause in Friday’s fundraising event.

The event will be filmed and Dragons TV will catch up with both Bateman and Hibbard around how it all came together - keep an eye on our channels for all of the day’s content.

Bateman created the People’s Captain due to his love of craft beer inspiring him in 2018 to work with some local craft breweries to create his first two beers.

The combination of great beers, the great sport of rugby and a very social crowd proved to be a recipe for success. From those beginnings, the idea of People's Captain developed.

The People's Captain Foundation sits at the heart of what they do - to support and contribute to positive mental health.
