Ryan looking to rebuild momentum

03/12/2021

Dean Ryan wants his Dragons to rebuild momentum as they prepare to face Glasgow Warriors in the United Rugby Championship (URC) on Saturday evening (kick-off 7.35pm).

Dragons head to Scotstoun Stadium before attention turns to European competition for two weeks.

The festive period will see three Welsh derby games in quick succession and the Director of Dragons Rugby knows the importance of getting his squad back together after a disrupted spell.

“It’s only last week (versus Edinburgh) that we weren’t happy with the way we represented ourselves,” he said.

“We’ve got significant challenges competing in this league and in the first four or five games we were starting to get some real momentum.

“We didn’t get the wins that we wanted, but the result at Connacht was an indicator. I don’t think we have been together really as a group ever since.

“As a squad it is difficult to come to terms with those challenges, so Europe will be an opportunity where we start to get people back together,” he added.

“It leads into the derby games and we would hope to see the whole contingent back in those periods.

“As an experience, we out in Europe last year because Covid made us make huge changes into Wasps and Bordeaux.

“We are very much looking forward to that campaign this year, but our focus first is on Glasgow and the challenge in Scotland.”
