Moriarty targets winning cup finale

01/06/2021

Back row Ross Moriarty praised a resilient performance by Dragons in the Guinness PRO14 Rainbow Cup defeat to Glasgow Warriors – and now he wants a winning end to the season.

Wales international Moriarty captained the team at Cardiff City Stadium as, despite a fast start that saw Dragons open up a 13-3 lead, they lost out in the penultimate game of the season.

Dean Ryan’s men now head to the RDS Arena to face Leinster a week on Friday and Moriarty insists the squad are determined to finish on a positive note.

“We knew it was going to be a physical game with Glasgow and obviously we started quite fast,” he said.

“It was a good 80 minutes of toe-to-toe rugby and to be fair to Glasgow they played well and came out on top.

“We had some chances that we could have taken but it wasn’t to be our day.

“I wasn’t sure about the forward pass (for the try) at the end, but the referee has got a tough job so we can’t have any complaints.

“We stayed in the game and we can walk off and hold our heads high,” he added.

“We didn’t roll over, we kept battling and could have got something at the end.

“We now look to the Leinster game and give that everything to try finish what has been a long season on a high.”
